Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Wake Wellness / Our Services / Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization is a soft tissue treatment technique that is often used in conjunction with muscle release therapy. It uses specifically designed stainless steel instruments to help our Chiropractor identify and break down scar tissue within the musculoskeletal system.

The goal of IASTM is to separate and break down scar tissue, as well as stretch connective tissue and muscle fibres. Using a cross-friction massage, rubbing against the grain of the scar tissue, our chiropractor re-introduces very small amounts of trauma to the affected area. This temporarily causes inflammation in the local area, which thereby increases the rate and amount of blood flow in and around the area. This process helps initiate and promote the healing process of the affected soft tissues.

What people are saying

Both Dr. Tyler and Melissa have been great with my entire family. The office is incredibly welcoming and they are very professional but they are down to earth and honest. Tyler has provided incredible relief to me when I have been feeling at my worst! I highly recommend WAKE Wellness and their incredible team!

I always feel SO much better after a visit to Wake Wellness! It's a pleasure to visit the office every time, and the advice I'm given for self care between treatments is perfect. Such a comfortable atmosphere.
